FREEFILESYNC.ONLINE

Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how FreeFileSync.online handles information when you browse the site, use its File Sync or Folder Merger tools, or contact support. Last updated September 10, 2026.

Local folder processing

The core tools are designed to process selected folders locally in your browser. When you click a folder-selection button, the browser and operating system present their own picker. FreeFileSync.online cannot silently browse your computer. The site receives access only to the folder handle you choose and only within the permissions made available by the browser.

After selection, the browser can enumerate entries, read file metadata, compare file contents when required, prepare an operation plan, and perform approved writes. Selected file contents, complete directory listings, comparison results, and synchronization plans are not sent to the FreeFileSync.online server for processing.

Read permission is used for scanning and comparison. Before an approved operation needs to create, replace, or remove destination entries, the tool checks for write permission. You can cancel the native picker or deny a permission request. Closing or reloading the page ends the in-memory session.

Information held during a session

Folder handles, scanned metadata, selected operations, progress details, and activity results are held in browser memory while the page is open. The current application does not intentionally persist folder handles, raw scans, filenames, file contents, or operation histories in a remote database.

The tools do not require an account, user profile, or authentication cookie.

An activity report is created in the browser. It is downloaded to your device only when you choose Export JSON report. The report can include file names, relative paths, operation types, and error details. Review it before sharing because those details may be sensitive. FreeFileSync.online does not automatically receive the downloaded report.

Normal website and hosting requests

Local file processing does not mean the browser makes zero network requests. It must request normal site resources such as HTML, JavaScript, CSS, locally hosted fonts, SVG assets, robots.txt, and sitemap files. The hosting provider and network infrastructure may process connection information needed to deliver and protect the service.

This technical information can include an IP address, request time, requested URL, response status, user-agent information, and security or diagnostic logs. Such records may be retained by the hosting provider according to its operational, security, and legal practices. FreeFileSync.online does not use those normal requests to upload the folders you select in the tools.

Analytics, advertising, and tracking

The website uses Google Analytics 4 with measurement ID G-TDS10YYH97 to understand visits, page views, referral sources, and real-time site usage. The Google tag can process the page URL and title, referrer, browser and device details, interaction timing, approximate location derived from an IP address, and cookies or similar identifiers. It does not receive selected folder contents, names, directory listings, comparison results, or operation plans.

Google handles analytics data under its own terms and privacy documentation. Browser cookie or privacy settings and blocking extensions can limit measurement. FreeFileSync.online does not display targeted advertising and has not configured the tag to upload local file data.

Email support

If you contact support@freefilesync.online, you voluntarily provide your email address, message, and any attachments or technical details you include. Your email provider and ours process that communication so it can be delivered and answered.

Do not send sensitive file contents, credentials, personal archives, or unedited reports containing private paths. Support generally needs browser, operating-system, workflow, and error details rather than access to your real documents. Messages may be retained as needed to investigate the issue, maintain a record of correspondence, prevent abuse, and meet applicable obligations.

The website includes links to technical documentation and other external resources. Following an external link leaves FreeFileSync.online. The destination can receive normal request information and apply its own privacy policy, cookies, logs, and tracking choices. Review the destination's terms before providing information there.

External links are references; they do not receive your selected file contents from the local tools. FreeFileSync.online does not append folder names, scan results, or report data to those URLs.

Data sharing and disclosure

Because the core folder workflow is local, there is no server-side collection of selected file contents to sell or share. Normal site-request information may be handled by service providers that deliver, secure, measure, or maintain the website, including Google Analytics for the limited usage information described above. Email information is handled by the providers involved in correspondence.

Information may also be preserved or disclosed when reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law, respond to valid legal process, protect the service and its users, investigate abuse, or enforce the Terms of Use. This statement does not create a promise to disclose information that the service does not possess.

Security and your choices

The production site should be accessed over HTTPS. Browser folder access requires a secure context in supported environments. Security also depends on your browser, operating system, device, extensions, storage media, and choices during permission prompts.

You control which folders are selected, whether write access is granted, which operations remain selected in preview, whether verification is enabled, and whether a local report is exported. You can end access by closing or reloading the tab and can manage site permissions through browser settings.

Keep the browser updated and avoid selecting folders that contain material unrelated to the task. Use disposable test folders when learning the workflow. Maintain independent backups before replacement or Mirror deletion operations.

Changes to this policy

The policy may be revised if the application adds storage, changes its analytics configuration, adopts new hosting behavior, or introduces another feature that changes data handling. The updated text and date will be published on this page. Material changes should be reviewed before continuing to use affected functionality.

For privacy questions or correction requests, contact support@freefilesync.online. Also read the Terms of Use and Disclaimer for the responsibilities and limitations that apply to file operations.
